eFolio

The course eFolio contains the majority of all of the work we did in the teaching with technology course. It is an accumulation of assignments and connections made throughout learning the course material. My eFolio contains some of my application connections along with my technology learning checklists that were done throughout the chapters. I think my eFolio shows a lot of what I have done in the course and how I have become a better technology user within the last month! I cannot wait to apply everything I have learned in this class into my classroom this upcoming fall.

WoW Project

The Web of Wonders project was a thought-provoking and eye-opening experience that was not only served to educate others but also educate myself as I was creating it. I chose to do my Social Studies tutorial-style project because I wanted to find outlets of technology to use for myself, and I wanted to show others how they can use it in the classroom as well. I chose to use Powtoon because it is a fun and visually pleasing presentation site. There are so many different things to do on Powtoon and unique ways to present the information you are trying to convey. I again used Screencast-o-Matic to narrate through my presentation to go into more details on the technologies I was discussing in my slides. I also enjoyed seeing all of the creative things my classmates were able to create. It was interesting for me to see what everyone came up with and what they took away from the course. There were interesting and well-thought out presentations that in each individuals own way, summed up the...

Multimedia Project

I really enjoyed doing the multimedia project. I chose Edmodo because I have used it prior to this course and I wanted to learn more about it. I liked the clarity of Edmodo and the layout of it was very easy to explain. This was also my first time using Screencast-o-Matic. Downloading the software was quick and easy to use. I had some problems with saving the recording. For some reason it was not showing up under "my videos". But I was able to save the recording to my computer so it really was not a problem. In regards to the project itself, I liked watching all of my classmates presentations and learning through them how I can better use these technologies.

Teaching with Google

Image
In recent years, google has changed the way we teach. There are so many difficult outlets of google that were highlighted in the video  Introduction to G Suite For Education . With Google. many teachers and students are now relying on google documents, slides, and sheets to complete assignments. Students and teachers are using this more then Microsoft software because its free, can be accessed through any device, and can be shared amongst other users. It makes group work and class assignments that require collaboration MUCH easier. Google Suite also has a "GDrive". In the Google Drive you can store and back up your documents into one organized file, giving you easy access to everything! More teachers are now also using Google classroom, a webpage that can be set up to relay information about classroom assignments and announcements. With google hangouts, yo can even chat with your peers, or even your students if they have content questions! Google products are up to date, ad...

netSMartz

(heres the link to the website): https://www.netsmartz.org/Home . NetSmartz has a lot of online resources that can be used to protect students from the dangers of the internet. There are four different outlets: videos, presentations, tip sheets, and lesson plans. These are all different examples of ways you can educate students on the dangers of the online world. I personally think this is a good site to help students become more knowledgable about the online dangers and ways to be more careful about the information you put out there. The presentations serve as a good visual to show students how these victims are hurt and physically upset from cyberbullying. NetSmartz videos also provide real-life stories of victims of cyberbullying. By showing these stories, students can see the direct impact someones words and actions have on a person. It also makes the issue more real, instead of just something thats talked about. The lesson plans are also a good tool because the students can lea...

The Worst Bully: The Cyberbully

Cyberbullying is such a severe offense that the New York State Division of Criminal Justice identifies it as a criminal offense. The state of New York recognizes the following as types of cyberbullying with my interpretation to follow: -Intimidate: use the internet to make others feel like they need to conform to their bully or the bully will spread a rumor about them -Threaten: make emotional, social and physical threats against another student if they do not conform to the bully -Impersonate: Pretend to be someone else in order to access another individuals personal information -Bully: Saying hurtful things to other to purposely put them down emotionally and psychologically -Ridicule: An example I can think of for this would be making hurtful comments under a picture someone posts -Humiliate: Post an embarrassing photo or message about someone else -Trick: Common with online dating or online "friends", making someone think you are someone that you are not (giving out...

LOCK IT UP!!!!!

Image
When I look at this picture, the first word that comes to my mind is: Chaotic. This image seems to be a dangers of the internet image. Its a combination of all the things that you need to do to protect yourself from the online world. Without being cautious, your information could be leaked to the entire online world without your knowledge.  It is important to always keep your files locked and under passwords. With the technology we have in this day and age, hackers can easily penetrate into your files to access your information. NEVER keep your personal information in a place that is easy to access! As teachers, our job is to keep our students safe. By teaching them the dangers of PowerPoint and of the web, we are giving them the information they need to know to be smart online users.
