The Worst Bully: The Cyberbully

Cyberbullying is such a severe offense that the New York State Division of Criminal Justice identifies it as a criminal offense. The state of New York recognizes the following as types of cyberbullying with my interpretation to follow:
-Intimidate: use the internet to make others feel like they need to conform to their bully or the bully will spread a rumor about them
-Threaten: make emotional, social and physical threats against another student if they do not conform to the bully
-Impersonate: Pretend to be someone else in order to access another individuals personal information
-Bully: Saying hurtful things to other to purposely put them down emotionally and psychologically
-Ridicule: An example I can think of for this would be making hurtful comments under a picture someone posts
-Humiliate: Post an embarrassing photo or message about someone else
-Trick: Common with online dating or online "friends", making someone think you are someone that you are not (giving out false information, using a fake profile picture etc)
-Generate Rumors: Spreading lies on the internet about another person for everyone to see

One of the worst things about cyberbullying is that everything that goes on with it is put out in the world for everyone to see. It exposes an individual out of pure hatred and embarrassment. Cyberbullying is so severe because it has led individuals to harm themselves or even commit suicide. Someone who is a cyberbully can now be issued a felony charge.

Here is a link to the ABC Family movie "Cyberbully" that shows how someone who is being bullied can be effected.
Cyberbullying is most hurtful because sometimes the person whose being bullied does not even know who is bullying them. The bully also feels powerful because all they have to do is hit a few keys and their words are out there for everyone to see.
