The Wonderful World of Word Processors

Word processors are a vital tool used for education and have become a mandatory tool for success in the classroom. Some of the most popular word processors are microsoft; including spreadsheets and powerpoint. Word processors have become so widely popular and valued in the technological age because of how easy they are to use. In the 21st century, people are looking for ways to get things done quickly and efficiently. Word processors make that possible for people. While word processors have become an essential part in education, they do not skate by without any criticism. There has been backlash that word processors do not to anything to help students with their handwriting skills. Because students are typing everything, they do not get enough penmanship practice. It has also been said that word processor features such as spell check have made it so people can not spell while free hand writing because it automatically gets fixed. Word processors have made creating documents a much cleaner and easier process with the different tools that teachers are able to use. Spreadsheets are also utilized in math classrooms because they make calculations. The use of spreadsheets are now becoming a mandatory part or curriculum, especially going into the business world. Word processors are also known to create productivity in the classroom and efficiency. It is important that students understand how essential word processors are because they will forever use them for their lives. With the use of word processors, classrooms are running smoother, students are gaining more hands-on access, and they are keeping up with the ever-changing technological world.

The term "Education 3.0" was very unfamiliar to me until a few days ago. Authors Derek Keats and J. Phillip Schmidt give us a full explanation of Education 3.0 in the article, The Genesis and Emergence of Education 3.0 in Higher Education and its Potential for Africa.  The article begins with a helpful comparison chart between Ed 1.0, Ed 2.0, and Ed 3.0 (image attached). The chart shows how education has changed throughout the years. The difference of education across three generation of education is astronomical. The education our parents got is far different from the education that we received. The Dangers of Copyright

Copyright problems and cases are something that people generally do not think too much about. People will use images, songs, and tapes without permission; thinking nothing of it until they are hit with a hefty fine. It is important for everyone to understand the dangers of copyright, I myself did not realize how little I knew about it until I took the copyright quiz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InzDjH1-9Ns Above I attached a link about how to avoid copyright trouble on YouTube. Teachers and school districts can get into serious legal trouble if they are not careful about their copyright uses. You do not want to be THAT teacher that makes a mistake and gets the school in trouble. Always follow a rule of thumb when using someone else's work.
